We played the inaugural match with the Old Sennockians (Sevenoaks) on Wednesday 7th July at Littlestone golf club and a great day was had by all.
We met at 11 for a hearty breakfast and teed off at 12 with 4 matches playing four ball better ball. The weather was perfect cloud with sunny spells and a light breeze.
Representing the OA’s were Duncan Anderson and Roger Kelly; Peter Foord and David Rutnam; John Simpson and Mat Flint; Peter Dickinson and Alex Mitchel.
Outstanding player was Peter Foord who was level par after 13 holes by which time they had won their match. Adam Gilbert of the OS’s chipped in for a nett Eagle on the 2nd but lost to Roger Kelly’s 4 gross birdies with another from Duncan Anderson.
We won the hard fought match played in a wonderful spirit 31/2 to 1/2 and won the trophy being a photograph of the bridge on the 18th at St Andrews.
The fixture was enjoyed by all and the Sennockians whose secretary Adam Gilbert will host next years match at Tandridge golf club where the trophy will be up for grabs again.
